Sika Deer Hunt on Private Oklahoma Ranch

$6,500

Experience the thrill of a unique big-game adventure with a 3-day guided Dybowski Sika Deer hunt in the rolling country of Oklahoma. Native to Eastern Asia, Sika Deer offer an incredible alternative to traditional whitetail hunting. Pursue these remarkably clever animals across private acreage where expert local guides, high success rates, and world-class accommodations come together for an unforgettable hunting trip.

A mature Sika Deer is a stunning, compact rack of thick, dark antlers and a beautiful white-spotted coat that darkens into a dense brown during the winter months. Because they are incredibly alert and quick to retreat into heavy cover, hunting them is a true test of patience, whether you prefer the challenge of a spot-and-stalk or a strategic ambush from an elevated blind.

I thoroughly enjoyed hunting Sika Deer on this ranch! Book your hunt now with this top-tier outfitter!

Weapons for this Hunt

Any long range cartridge from .243 win up to any of the .30 caliber rifles will work great.

Hunting Season

The best time to hunt Sika Deer is October to January. If you want the most exciting, fast-paced hunt possible, book your trip for mid to late October. This is the peak of the Sika Deer rut, which happens earlier than the traditional November whitetail rut. During these weeks, mature Sika Deer become highly aggressive and incredibly vocal, emitting a distinct, piercing whistle to challenge rivals. Their natural caution drops as they actively pursue females, making them much easier to locate.

From November through January, Sika stags have completely rubbed off their velvet, leaving their unique, compact racks hard and polished. This window is also the absolute best time for taxidermy quality. As the Oklahoma weather turns colder, sika deer shed their lighter summer spots and grow a dense, magnificent, dark-charcoal winter coat that looks spectacular on a mount.

Hunting Environment

From the fabulous lodge to the mild Oklahoma weather, hunting the Sika Deer will be a great experience. Unlike the extreme temperature swings found further north, Oklahoma’s hunting season offers comfortable, crisp mornings and temperate afternoons that allow you to stay in the field longer without battling the elements. On the occasional rainy day, you can hunt from the elevated blinds and have an enjoyable hunt staying nice and dry.
