About the Nubian Ibex
General Information
The Nubian ibex is a small, desert-adapted wild mountain goat found in rugged, arid regions of northern and northeast Africa and the Middle East. Recognized by their light tan coats and incredible climbing skill, they face threats like habitat loss and are listed as a vulnerable species.
Females and young live in groups of up to 20 members, while adult males often stay alone or form small bachelor groups.
Description of the Nubian Ibex
Size: World’s smallest ibex species, standing about 2 to 2.5 feet tall at the shoulder.
Weight: An adult male weighs from 110 to 150 pounds.
Horns: Males grow massive, backward-curving horns up to 4 feet long, while females have much shorter, thinner horns.
Color: Light sandy-brown fur with white underparts and striking dark markings on the legs and back for males.
Suitable Weapons
Any center-fire rifle from a .243 and larger will work for a Nubian Ibex.
Hunting Area
Nubian Ibex are primarily hunted at high-fence exotic hunting ranches in Texas.
Trophy Expectations
A trophy Nubian Ibex will have horns measuring 36 inches or longer. Horns with large ridges are often viewed as valuable as the horn length.
