Stumberg sheep are a rare hybrid developed by crossing European Mouflon ewes with Argali rams. Originally bred in the 20th century at The Patio Ranch in Hunt, Texas, they feature the smaller body and reddish coat of a mouflon, but possess the massive, corkscrew-shaped horns and much larger size of an Argali.
Habitat & Behavior: Adapted well to brush country environments, they are typically found on large Texas exotics ranches. They are herd animals and year-round breeders, with increased mating activity often occurring in late summer and early fall.
Description of the Stumberg Sheep
- Physical Characteristics: Males weigh from 150 to 225 pounds, while ewes average 100 pounds. Mature rams sport impressive, homonymous (corkscrew) horns ranging from 30 to 39 inches or more.

Use a minimum of a 6.5mm caliber to hunt Stumberg sheep.
